Worship and Spiritual Life
Our Church Services
Our services support the spiritual development of children, young people, adults and families.
Worship, education and pastoral care
Our faith and worship follow the Holy Bible, the teaching of the Apostles, the faith of the Church Fathers and the sacred traditions of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Our services help the faithful grow through worship, repentance, prayer, fellowship and participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
Prayer and Fellowship
Regular prayer, spiritual fellowship and opportunities for the faithful to come together in worship, mutual encouragement and Christian community.
Sunday School and Education
Religious education for children, young people and adults, including Bible teaching, Orthodox Tewahedo faith, Christian values, Church traditions and preparation for participation in worship.
Mezmur, Misbak and Mahliet
Mezmur spiritual hymns, the chanting of Misbak and Psalms, and Mahliet traditional spiritual praise form an important part of prayer and worship.
Divine Liturgy
The Divine Liturgy is at the heart of Orthodox Tewahedo worship. It is the sacred service in which the Church gathers to praise God, hear the Holy Scriptures, offer prayers and celebrate the mystery of Holy Communion. Through Eucharistic worship, the faithful remember the saving Incarnation, Crucifixion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and are called to approach with faith, repentance, reconciliation, prayer and reverence.
Outreach and Pastoral Care
Our pastoral services include spiritual counselling, prayer and visits to people at home, in hospital or in prison. We seek to support individuals and families during illness, bereavement, hardship and other times of need, while signposting to specialist services where appropriate.
